Netbook Reflection 2013

Our netbooks haved helped us a lot throughout the year, because all our school work is on the internet and thats very good so people can see what bright kids we are. My netbook has helped me in many ways, because I have learned how to use templates to help my writing and i'm also doing reading activities to help my comprehending and inquiry presentation.

I have learnt online so many things such as learning how to use sites like Maths Whizz, Sunshine online and study ladder they help me a lot in my learning and i believe that all these learning sites make you become someone better in life.

I have also been learning from other people how to do different ways of learning the other ways of people and how they learn.

The internet also helps us learn what we have which is Key Competencies which is thinking well, Relating to others, using signs and symbols, Managing yourself and participate and contributing with other people.

I have helped other people to be humble and stay out of fights and do good in school.

I have enjoyed using my netbook it helps in many ways.

Dance Fever Recount

WOW! That was the best lesson of Dance fever we were finishing off our Hip hop moves. There was a little bit of hard moves but Captain and Christina helped us to get through them, but the most hard move we can not get is the popping its like when you pop your body but do the move with it. Some of us got it but it took very long for us to get it. After learning the rest of the moves we had a break and then Christina was just telling us what is happening at the end of the term and that we are going to perform and vs schools, we were all so excited.

After that we all got taught how to do Cha cha and we had to face to the person who was next to us and that was our partner. We only got taught how to do the stepping and how to stand, next week Captain and Christina said we will learn a bit of moves to go with the Cha cha Dance.

Finally we were finished for the day and we had lots and lots of fun and when we had to say goodbye we didn’t  want to go but we had too. The best exercise for this morning.

Narrative Writing

On one hot summer day Anna and James went to the zoo. First they saw big Elephants and very loud Monkeys, the monkeys were jumping on very hot rocks. The Elephants were jumping for the colourful balloons in the air, as soon as they landed they landed like big huge airplanes landing on the runway.

The Monkeys were crying for lemons then Anna said to James “I never knew monkeys like lemons.” Anna and James were too busy looking at the monkeys they forgot about the Elephants then the Elephants were very sad they ran away when the zookeeper left the gate open, the Elephants ran in this big huge bush.

When Anna and James were finish feeding the monkeys they decided to go take a look at the big, giant, fat, Elephants when they went to look at the Elephants they saw that the gates were open they had a feeling that the Elephants had escape when they saw that the big, fat, giant Elephants were gone they were in shock.

Later on in the day Anna and James were crying that the Elephants were gone because that was their favorite animal then when James looked up he saw the big, fat, giant Elephants he said to Anna “LOOK IT’S THE BIG, FAT, GIANT ELEPHANTS” Anna though that James was lying, then the Elephants big feet was stomping on the ground and making big noises.

Anna was so HAPPY that the Elephants were back where they belong and she said to the Elephants “I will never leave you big, fat, giants ever again. Then when they were driving back home there was a big storm it went on until they got home then it stopped Anna said “that was weird”, then they went inside their house and they were calm after a big storm. In the end they had a wonderful, fabulous silent cool night.

Yaay! finally it’s the end of the day. On saturday me and my family went to Rainbow end for night rides and saw Chanel, Katalina and their friends . Their standing at the gate. I went over and said Hi and we started talking after a while we went on a ride called the pirate ship. That was very scary because it was going up another end then up another end. We were yelling and screaming loudly.

After that ride we went onto the golden rush the golden rush was very scary because we had to watch out for a log which wound fling across the other end of the cave. The coolest ride  was the roller coaster because the roller coaster was fast and scary that was the scariest ride i have been on. Since i was their. It felt like i was going to die when I went down a deep corner.

Dance Fever - Hip Hop Dance

Today was our first lesson of Hip Hop and we got taught by two instructors from Dance Fever and their names are Captain and Christina. The first thing they explain to us was what kind of dancing we will be doing and what rules there were. As soon as we got those over and done with we started our retain of our hip hop lesson and we had lots of hard moves to do but at the end Christina said “ we can play a game since you guys are awesome at dancing.”

When we were playing the game was so fun. The game was a dance battle. It was girls against boys I was the leader for the girls and Siupeli was the leader for the boys group. The girls and boys had to copy what dance moves the leaders were doing. After that it was time for the leaders to have a competition. Finally it was over. Captain said the winner is the boys. The boys were so excited and happy that they won. We hope the girls wins next time.

Answer: Chris Pither first was a racing kart driver then when he was twelve he decided that he was gonna do racing car driving and that's how he became a racing car driver.

Why do some people think that New Zealand will soon lead the world in motor sports?

Answer: New Zealand will soon lead the world in motor sports because drivers are starting to drive so young.

3. Infer/ Make a Judgement

What kind of a person is Chris? What details in the story lead you to believe this?

Answer: Chris is a teenager boy who loves racing cars and all sorts of things that has wheels on it. In the story it tells you what he loves about wheels and always asking his dad if he could get him a motorbike for Christmas.  

4. What is a sponsor, and why is it important to have one in motor racing?

Answer: In this case motorcycles need us to sponsor them so they can have more people to join and to go and have races across the world.

5. What precautions are taken to to protect the drivers when they are racing?

In your opinion, do these precautions go far enough to make the sport safe?

Motorcycles need things to protect themselves such as Helmets, Elbow and leg pads and they need to follow the rules that they get told.

6. Use details from the text to tell why the sport is dangerous.

Answer: It is dangerous sport. It is dangerous because there are too much accidents when there is car racing.

7. What is your opinion of motor sport? Could you see yourself being a formula 1 driver? Why or why not would you want to do this sport?

Answer: The reason why i would do this sport is because it looks very fun and interesting. The reason why I don't want to do this sport is that i could be in a lot of accidents.

Great Barrier Island Experience

Wow!! On the 15th of September Glenbare year 7&8s went to Great Barrier Island for camp and to experience the outdoors and learn more about the outdoor life. Well for my experience when i went there was that you can do a lot of stuff while staying outdoors, you can do stuff such as Kayaking, Hiking, Sea fishing Kayaking, Rope Climbing and other outdoors activities. When i was there i had the most fun of life it was really awesome and i got to archive my goals such as scared of heights and very shy. I really enjoyed myself and had a lot of fun.

Persuasive Writing

Do you ever get bored of just sitting around doing nothing but watching television or sleeping? Well we all need to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather that we have and all the kind of sports that we have. In this beautiful country New Zealand with outdoors and the fantastic weather some people just don't get why people stay inside instead of going out and enjoying our beautiful sport and the fabulous weather.

I believe that New Zealand should have more sport so people can get outside and enjoy new zealand's beautiful weather and the outdoors that we have, and that you can get very fit for sports or other stuff that you do.

First of all I believe that new zealand should have more sport because our people need to enjoy the fabulous sports that we have and everybody can get out of the house.

In addition people need to get out so we can enjoy the weather well we can, especially the sunny bright days that we have.

In fact the reason why people believe that we should have more sports is because it makes us very fit for does who want to get fit and its for other stuff that contains running or exercise, so we can use it whenever we want and wherever we want.

Well new zealand will be better with more sports and more people who join those sports, I believe that if new zealand had a lot of sport then we will have nobody just sitting around doing nothing but having fun and enjoying the world.

Today I learnt how to multiply very fast. Today my maths whizz was easy.

Today I read this book called " The Wheelmobile " It was about a little boy who always wanted to get the highest record for riding a bike very fast around the street.

Today I read this book called " Magda the Mammoth Hunter " It was about a girl who is a Magda Mammoth Hunter, and her dad takes her all over the world, and she sees if any country has mammoths.

Maths Whizz

Today on maths Whizz I learnt some ways to subtract easy and simple my maths whizz was kinda all right today.

Saltspray - Reading Sunshine Online

Today I read this book " Saltspray" this book is about a school Idol and a band from that school decides to join the Idol they were thinking of lots of songs and another name for their band, then they ended up wining the Idol.

Spectacular Soccer lesson 3

One very sunny morning room 10 went out to have another exciting day of soccer. The exciting thing that we did today was a mini awesome soccer tournament, we were all split into four teams, the team I was in was team red. We all had loads of fun. Ben kept saying “ come on use all the skills that we have been learning!” We were all as fast as cheaters and we all were mostly zealous and powered up for the last game, it was an spectacular lesson and day.

Today I read  this book called " The bike race " it was and awesome book to read. It was about two boys having a race with there bikes it was a tie. It was a very fantastic book.

Today my maths whizz was pretty easy.

Soccer lesson 2

Today room 10 went to soccer lessons for second time we learnt how to dribble the ball and how to step your defender in a soccer game. Our instructor Ben was really angry because some people were not behaving good. After learning all the skills we had a little game of soccer it was awesome learning all those soccer skills. I think that the most exercising skills that I have ever done is soccer skills it makes you very fit if you do a lot.

Our Government

The things that I learnt well reading this book is that the federal government-this government works for the whole country and everyone in it, State governments-this government works for people living in the state, Local governments- this government works for communities in cites and rural areas.

Soccer Skills

Soccer  Skills

Today room 10 had Soccer, the instructor we had was Ben he taught us how to juggle with a soccer ball on our feet. Before we started learning the soccer skills we did a little warm up and in that warm up we played two games of octopus. After that we got straight into learning how to juggle the ball on our feet, we had to jump into pears and practice how to juggle the ball on our feet, after we finished learning that skill we had one game of soccer, when it was finished the score was 1 all we all had a great time.  

Procedural Writing

Today I was doing Procedural Writing it was so awesome, its bast on you telling someone how to do something or what to do.  

Tracking Animals

Today I read this book called Tracking Animals, its a really good book for those who want to know where animals are.

Netball Session Description

Today at netball I learnt how to do all sorts of netball skills such as faking all your passes, stepping, chest passing, shooter driving to and fro, goal shoots, different passing and the right way to catch and something that i've never heard before its called swift movement. Some of them was hard but most of them were pretty easy. When I was trying all the netball skills I was scared because some of these skills I did not know because I don't play netball that much, so I just went with what everyone else was doing. It is a good experience for those who really want to play netball but don't have the time to or don't know how to play it. Netball is a good game for those who want to get fit. Netball is a great game for everyone you also need to support each other and make sure we do not put down anyone no matter who it is.

Tread Lightly Caravan

Today I learnt if you brush your teeth and leave the tap on you are not protecting the earth because you are wasting a lot of water, and in earth we need a lot water to survive, and when you are taking a shower you it should only take you about 10-15 minutes, the longer you use the shower the less water earth gets.

The things that I will do to save the earth is make sure when I brush my teeth that I turn off my tap so there is more water for other people to survive. Now i'm gonna tell my family to take shorter showers.

I think its good to save the earth so we all have a happy, lovely fantastic world to live in and we can all help each other keep the world alive. I also think everyone else should start making changes for our beautiful world.

Orienteering!!!!

Wednesday 15th April 2013

On Wednesday the 15th some of the Glenbrae students went to the Waitiki Reserve  for Orienteering. When it was my groups turn we ran as quick as flashes, we had to split up because we all had different controls points to go to and all our maps were different. Some of us had the one or two numbers that was the same so we just followed each other until we had no numbers that were the same then we went off on our own. It was so muddy, we I first started it was a little bit cold then when we were running around it was getting so hot. That was the tiring thing I've ever done, but it was still so fun and I did it for Glenbrae school.

My Fantastic Easter weekend!!!!!

Wednesday 4th April 2013

On Easter weekend, on Saturday bright and early me and family went to go get our Easter eggs for Easter Sunday, then later on that day me and my little sister couldn't wait for Easter the next day. Our mum said to put all our Easter eggs together just incase someone does a sneak peak. Then me and my sister went to sleep thinking about the next day.

On Sunday morning my mum came and woke me up and said (come on we have to go to church) and I replied (REALLY) she said yes now get up, so i got up and said why do I have to go church my mum just said yes for the last time so then i got ready. it was just me and my mum going to church, when we got there they had already started we just walked in and sat next to my anuty and my cousin. When church finished me and my mum asked our cousins of they wanted to come with us to the beach and they OK so we quickly went back to my house cause we were leaving at 1:00 and our church finished at 12:30 but we got back in time, that we still had a little time to get changed.

We went to the beach at 1:30 I forgot what the name was and we had a BBQ my uncle was cooking the food when me and my mum came out of the beach it was like I just came out a huge piece of ice man it was SO cold, I couldn't even move I was just taking little steps at a time then I made it up and I just sat next to the BBQ we were there until 5:00 then we came home and ate our Easter eggs me and my little sister were sharing with each other we really enjoyed our day. And since we had Monday and Tuesday off school we just relaxed and waited to go school on Wednesday.

My Easter weekend was the best, I enjoyed it , loved it and my best part was spending it with my family.

Awesome trip to MOTAT!!!!

Wednesday 16th of April

We went to Motat to learn about Simple Machines and a little bit more about Transport.

When we arrived at MOTAT we first assembled at the place that we had to return to for our lunch breaks and other big group talks. The MOTAT instructor Melissa, told us what we are doing for the day with our group, the adult who was taking care of my group  was Mrs D.

The first place we went to was the place where they have some olden day transport.  After that we went to look at the steam house. The boiler had the fire going but the water was not hot enough for the steam to start collecting. The boiler room  was  full of pictures of cars and some information about each of those cars.   When and where the cars were made and when they were first driven was also stated in the information.  The boiler had the fire going but the water was not hot enough for the steam to start collecting.

Then we went for our tram ride and on our return  we went into the challenge zone and we were doing a very hard challenge. The people in my group were really smart and we  were all doing that challenge.  Finally we finished it.

After that we went to the mirror maze just to have a little bit of fun. Then we had to go for our lunch and  wait for Malessa so that we could go for our class lesson about simple machines.  She told us all about  what kind of simple machines there are. During the last 10-20 minutes we had to build a simple machine.

I listened very hard when Melissa was talking about the simple machines because I didn't know what simple machines were or what they do or where they come from. I learnt that simple machines are mechanisms that provide mechanical advantage to make life easier and its an object to make our tasks  easier.  Examples of simple machines are wheel and axle, pulley, inclined plane, wedge, screws and levers.

I really enjoyed my time at MOTAT because I was able to experience a lot of things that I didn't  know about. I am really looking forward to my next visit to MOTAT.
