SJ Part 4 Number 1 2002



1. Recall
How did Chris finally get started into race car driving?
Answer: Chris Pither first was a racing kart driver then when he was twelve he decided that he was gonna do racing car driving and that's how he became a racing car driver.  
2. Recall
Why do some people think that New Zealand will soon lead the world in motor sports?
Answer: New Zealand will soon lead the world in motor sports because drivers are starting to drive so young.
3. Infer/ Make a Judgement
What kind of a person is Chris? What details in the story lead you to believe this?
Answer: Chris is a teenager boy who loves racing cars and all sorts of things that has wheels on it. In the story it tells you what he loves about wheels and always asking his dad if he could get him a motorbike for Christmas.  
4. What is a sponsor, and why is it important to have one in motor racing?
Answer: In this case motorcycles need us to sponsor them so they can have more people to join and to go and have races across the world.
5. What precautions are taken to to protect the drivers when they are racing?
In your opinion, do these precautions go far enough to make the sport safe?
Motorcycles need things to protect themselves such as Helmets, Elbow and leg pads and they need to follow the rules that they get told.
6. Use details from the text to tell why the sport is dangerous.
Answer: It is dangerous sport. It is dangerous because there are too much accidents when there is car racing.
7. What is your opinion of motor sport? Could you see yourself being a formula 1 driver? Why or why not would you want to do this sport?
Answer: The reason why i would do this sport is because it looks very fun and interesting. The reason why I don't want to do this sport is that i could be in a lot of accidents.
8. After reading “ Chris Pither - Racing Driver” design a poster to promote the sport of motor racing and upload to your blog.
